The Foundation Acting Technique in Geelong is a dynamic 10-week course designed to provide actors with a strong technical foundation in the craft of acting. Meeting twice a week (with a mix of online & in-person), this hands-on program introduces a core set of acting principles developed by Howard Fine, rooted in the transformative techniques of Uta Hagen and her contemporaries.
Throughout the program, actors will engage in structured study modules that build upon one another, fostering a deep understanding of truthful, moment-to-moment work. COURSE LOCATION: Geelong Arts Centre - Beam Light (Studio 3), 50 Little Malop St, Geelong VIC 3220. Beam Light (Studio 3) is adjacent to Limelight on the top floor of the Ryrie Street building.*
*4 of the 10 classes will be held online.
COURSE DATES: Mondays 28 April - 30 June, 2025
APPLICATIONS CLOSE: Monday 21 April, 2025
AUDITION INFO: Auditions are not a requirement for entry into this program. Simply fill out the form linked below and the team will review your application and be in touch.
COURSE DURATION: 10 weeks of tuition.

Payable in full or 5x weekly instalments of $175

Pre-Class Homework
Learn two, short, one—three minute monologues.
You are welcome to select one or more of your monologues from our collection (Monologue List), or you may choose pieces that do not feature in our collection.
Please note you are not restricted by the assigned gender of a monologue - please choose material that resonates with you. We also recommend that you have a look at the monologues from Humans of New York (which has a Webpage, Facebook page and Instagram account)Please ensure you have secured a copy of Fine on Acting: A Vision of the Craft by Howard Fine, prior to the course commencing. These can be purchased from online retailers or directly from us.
