You're Not Alone: The 10 Most Googled Fears Actors Have (and Why They Make Total Sense)

Found on Reddit. Artist Unknown.

As actors we are passionate about what we do, and with that passion can come questions and, at times, insecurities.

Recently, after chatting with a few actors about the inner doubts we all face at various times, I got curious. So I jumped into Google Trends to see what actors around the world were actually searching for. What I found was both powerful and comforting.

Because the truth is: being vulnerable for a living, makes us vulnerable.

At Howard Fine Acting Studio, we meet actors every week (whether they’re fresh to the industry or years into their career) who have questions about the craft, career choices, life in general and what to focus on next.

Here are the top 10 fears actors are Googling, and why every single one of them is a sign that you care deeply about your craft.

1. “Am I too old to start acting?”

Short answer: no. Some of the most iconic performers didn’t begin until later in life. Acting isn’t about age, it’s about truth, presence, and the ability to connect. Listen to Studio Director, Philip Hayden’s thoughts on this on SPOTIFY.

2. “How do I stop overthinking in auditions?”

You walk out of the room replaying everything you said, we get it. But presence can be trained. Learning how to trust your instincts is a skill, not a mystery. Check out our previous post: 11 Things You Need To Remember About Auditions

3. “What if I’m not talented enough?”

Talent is a constant - technique is what can shift. It’s the commitment to craft, consistency, and training that makes all the difference.

4. “How do I deal with rejection as an actor?”

Rejection stings, but it’s part of the path. The actors who grow are the ones who keep showing up, even when it’s tough.

5. “Is it normal to feel anxious on stage?”

Absolutely. Even award-winners get nervous. Nerves mean you care. What matters is learning how to channel that energy.

6. “Do I need to be attractive to succeed?”

You are beautiful - don’t judge yourself! Real, grounded performances are what audiences connect with. Authenticity is everything.

7. “Why am I not booking any roles?”

It’s rarely just about you. The industry is unpredictable, but your craft and mindset? That’s where your power lies.

8. “Can I make a living as an actor?”

Yes! But it looks different for everyone. Building a career takes time, and it’s okay to create a life that supports your dream.

9. “How do I stop comparing myself?”

Comparison is a trap. Your path is yours alone. The more you focus on your own growth, the more confident you’ll feel.

10. “Is it okay to ask for help?”

Not only is it okay… it’s necessary! No one does this alone. Having the right team around you is part of the work.
